Enhanced Strategic Thinking Skills:Influencing and setting strategic direction
Strategic thinking is rightly identified as a crucial skill not only in the civil service but as a vital ability for all senior managers and leaders. It is also one of the elements of Professional Skills for Government, in which all civil servants wishing to progress have to demonstrate competence.
This seminar will look at topics such as understanding different types of strategy, building a mission, the difficulties in the public sector in achieving strategy cohesiveness, building competencies and behaviours to support strategy, building strategic alliances, analysis of power and authority of stakeholder groups, and internal communication - "winning hearts and minds" - of large and varied staff.
