Introduction to Project Planning
This seminar looks at what constitutes a plan, different types of plan, project objectives, product and work based planning and when to use each type. It will then look at planning to meet time, cost and quality requirements, identifying the products of a project, product breakdown structures, product flow diagrams, product descriptions, product specifications and contracts.
In the afternoon sessions will cover linking products with activities (work), activity networks, estimating techniques, critical path analysis, Gantt charts, incorporating assumptions, risks and resources, resource smoothing and monitoring progress against the plan. There will also be a short demonstration of software tools (Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project). The seminar constitutes a thorough introduction to project planning.
